How can I apply to join NW1 St Annes / Kirkham / Blackpool / Preston UCLan?
Please visit our APPLY page where you can fill in a short expression of interest form. Our School Manager, Emma Campbell, will reply within two working days with any requested information and next steps.
Alternatively, you can email info@nw1theatreschool.co.uk directly.
What age are NW1 students?
NW1 is open to students from age 4 to 18. Children ages 4 to 6 are eligible for our ‘Mini’ classes, ‘Junior’ applies to students aged 7 to 10, ‘Senior’ includes students over 11 years of age.
How can my child join NW1 ACTOR MANAGEMENT?
Initially, NW1 ACTOR MANAGEMENT will be representing no more than 25 artists already attending NW1 Theatre Schools. More slots will eventually open to students. To register your interest and for more information please email Head Agent, Emma Norman at agency@nw1theatreschool.co.uk
My child has SEND requirements, can they still attend NW1?
Yes,100 per cent. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive, safe environment for all children no matter their needs.
What is your anti-bullying policy?
We have a robust zero-tolerance bullying policy and pupils found to be bullying will be asked to leave NW1.
How do you ensure that performance opportunities are fair?
All students are given the same opportunities no matter their age or ability. Students of all ages will receive multiple opportunities in any capacity they wish! These will include opportunities to be in NW1's productions, or even take to the stage at external events such as Lancashire Hits and On The Beat.
We have many students studying at each level and vary the style of productions we stage, so it is highly unlikely you will ever see the same student taking multiple lead roles.
Do Mini students get to participate in productions?
Mini students do participate in productions. We assess the average age and skill set of the Minis to ensure that opportunities do not overface students. Our assessment may mean that Minis are invited to perform in Senior musicals, or may me that we stage a smaller show more suited to the age group working alone. Vitally, every student at NW1 has the opportunity to be in a musical production and other performances during the school year.
Do you have any past students who have gone on to become successful?
Students that have left NW1 have gone on to study at Drama Schools and Universities such as LIPA (Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts), Performers College, and The Royal Academy of Music!
Our teachers also have a history of teaching students who are now working professionally - these include Hollywood stars. Read more on our NW1 STAFF page.

How do I arrange a private lesson?
You need to email info@nw1theatreschool.co.uk with your name, age, day availability and what kind of private LAMDA or Music lessons you would like and Emma will be able to pass you over to the appropriate teacher.
What happens if I miss a class?
If you miss a class, you will still be charged through your direct debit. The payment schedule charges you for 4 weeks worth of lessons at the beginning of each month for eleven months of the year (you are not charged in August.) Any overpayments, such as weeks we are closed eg Christmas, cover extras such as 5-week months, and extra rehearsal lessons for production. We estimate you will gain an extra week of teaching time for free.
Are classes ever cancelled?
We are fortunate to have so many talented teachers and can almost always make sure a lesson goes ahead if the regular teacher becomes unavailable. Where it affects a private lesson, the teacher will offer an alternative lesson time.
How do I get updates on my child’s progress?
You are welcome to ask any of the teachers for a chat about your child’s progress and can request a more formal discussion by arranging a meeting through School Manager, Emma Campbell info@nw1theatreschool.co.uk
Can my child gain qualifications while studying at NW1?
Your child will be able to gain qualifications while studying LAMDA and the higher grades will earn your child UCAS points that contribute towards their University application.
How much do classes cost?
Classes start at £6.00, with our most expensive lessons being £16.00. A full list of costs can be found on our FEES page.
How do I pay my fees?
Your fees are paid via direct debit set up on our NW1 App - direct debits are collected via GoCardless and will show up on your bank account as “NW1XXXXXXXXX".
Are there any additional fees other than classes?
Additional fees during the year are limited. These include:
SHOW FEES
At the beginning of a new academic year we ask for a show fee from most classes. Show fees go towards the production your child will take part in. Show fees contribute to production costs and help hire items such as costumes, sets and lighting. Show fees from students account for around 20% of the total production costs.
